May Activities

May is that month where school winds down and everyone begins thinking about summer! Our summer reading program is planned. Registration begins the 18th of May. Be sure to stop by the library and sign up your children and sign the permission slip.

Also, May marks "Children's Book Week". We will be celebrating with author Kari Kay who has written FLOPPYCAT. Kay will speaking at the library on Wednesday, May 13th at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room. She will be offering books for sale. Hope to see you there.

On Saturday, May 16th, Hawarden native Michael Kuiper will be signing his new book at the library at 11 a.m. Please stop by to say hi and wish Michael well.

Don't forget book discussion group on May 20th with author Nicole Baart (hopefully). Nicole will join us if her schedule allows. We will be discussing her new book, THE MOMENT BETWEEN.

Outdoor Lab/Classroom

The Library Board is working very diligently on the plans for the Outdoor Lab/Classroom. We are grateful for all of you who have donated to the project. You should begin seeing some "action" in the area in the next few months. Plans call for a "prairie' area featuring native Iowa
plants as well as a sitting area. Check out the plans at the library.
